Phone Review
Although the price point may end up being prohibitive for most PhonePimp customers, it sounds like the Nokia 6230 might be pretty awesome. For the hardcore data user who loves killer features, etc...
From Infosyncworld:
"When push comes to shove, the 6230 might just be Nokia's most solid and well-equipped mobile phone ever. In our opinion, no other currently available handsets - smartphones excluded - match its powerful specifications, as its virtually floweth over with multimedia features and connectivity options, all neatly arranged in a compact and classic exterior. It's safe to say the 6230 is Nokia's new mobile phone flagship, and considering its high bang-for-buck factor, the price tag isn't deterring."

Ringtone Basics
So, what kind of products will the PhonePimp be selling? Games, Graphics and Ringtones. I'm sure you've all heard about ringtones, but I thought I'd give you a brief overview.
What is a ringtone? Ringtones are the ring sound a phone makes when indicating an incoming call. The market is heating up!
More to the point, there are basically three ringtone types; monophonic, polyphonic, and true tones. Monophonic and polyphonic are midi (musical instrument digital interface) based. Monophonic allows for one midi voice or one instrumental sound. Polyphonic allows for more than one voice. True tones are standard digital audio types such as wav, mp3, aac; amr. The PhonePimp will try to support all phones, but in the multi-standard space universal support is a moving target. If there are specific phones you'd like us to support, please drop us a line.

Getting off your ass
So, the toughest thing about starting a business is coming up with a good idea. Well, we started talking about this about 2 years ago and the plan started to get more formalized and finally, earlier this year, JIZO, our CTO, looked me in the eye and said he's going for it - & wanted to see if I was in or out. He runs his own web design firm, http://www.darwinfx.com and he is a technical guru.
The business idea is fairly simple - selling products and services for mobile phones. Sounds a little trendy, I'm sure - there are lots of companies jumping into the fray - but our strategy is a little different.
We will be offering content that is not readily accessible through today's channels. Thus, the birth of PhonePimp. The ultimate destination to pimp out your phone. Ringtones, Graphics, Games and more - we'll be in business soon. Please let us know what products you want and we'll go get them. Tell your friends!

Entrepreneurship Dreams
The story starts about a year and a half ago. A few friends and I have been kicking around potential ideas for our own business to start. We had gone to B-School together and the New Venture Finance and Entrepreuner classes really inspired us to do our own thing.
We had a number of ideas but never got anything off the ground. Our regular jobs, family, etc. always get in the way. Earlier this year, however, something happened and we decided to go for it. What the heck - if it bombs out or fails to materialize at least we are putting our training to good use. I'll fill you all in on how we got started later on.
